Apple Watch Series 11: Smarter, Thinner, and More Health-Focused Than Ever

Apple Watch Series 11
Apple today introduced the Apple Watch Series 11, the company’s most advanced and health-centric mainstream smartwatch to date. While it retains the familiar design of its predecessor, the Series 11 is packed with significant internal and software upgrades that make a powerful case for a new generation of wearable technology.
A Refined and Durable Design
The Apple Watch Series 11 is the thinnest Apple Watch yet, offering a comfortable fit for all-day and all-night wear. The new aluminum models are made from 100% recycled aluminum, a significant step in Apple’s commitment to sustainability. The display on aluminum models is now twice as scratch-resistant as the Series 10, thanks to a new ceramic coating bonded to the Ion-X glass. Titanium models continue to feature a sapphire front crystal, offering the highest level of durability.
Breakthrough Health Features
Apple has doubled down on health with the Series 11. It introduces two groundbreaking new health features:
- Hypertension Notifications: The Apple Watch Series 11 can now passively monitor for signs of chronic high blood pressure, or hypertension, by analyzing heart rate data over a 30-day period. The watch will notify users of consistent patterns associated with the condition, empowering them to take action and consult a doctor.
- Sleep Score: To provide a more comprehensive view of sleep health, the new “sleep score” feature analyzes factors such as sleep duration, consistency, and time spent in different sleep stages to provide a single, easy-to-understand score. This helps users better understand and improve the quality of their sleep.
These new features complement the existing suite of health tools, including the ECG app, blood oxygen tracking, and irregular rhythm notifications. The new Vitals app on the watch provides a quick overview of a user’s overnight health data, including heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, and blood oxygen, and can notify users if multiple metrics are outside of their typical range.
New Performance and Connectivity
The Apple Watch Series 11 is more powerful and efficient than ever. It now offers up to 24 hours of battery life with normal use, a notable improvement that makes all-day and all-night wear more convenient. It also supports fast charging, providing up to 8 hours of use with just a 15-minute charge. Cellular models of the Series 11 now feature 5G connectivity, providing faster data speeds for streaming music, downloading apps, and staying connected on the go.
Pricing and Availability
The Apple Watch Series 11 starts at $399 for the 42mm GPS-only model and $429 for the 46mm GPS-only model. Cellular-enabled models begin at $499. Pre-orders are open today, September 9, and the new models will be available in stores and for delivery beginning Friday, September 19.
