The Apple Watch Ultra 3: Redefining Adventure

Apple Watch Ultra 3
Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra 3, a significant leap forward for its rugged and feature-packed smartwatch. Announced at today’s “Awe-Dropping” event, the new Ultra 3 introduces a host of major upgrades, including satellite connectivity, a larger display, and a powerful new chip, solidifying its position as the ultimate companion for adventurers and athletes.
A Bigger, Brighter Display
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 features the largest display ever on an Apple Watch. Apple has managed to trim the bezels, expanding the active screen area while maintaining the familiar case size. The display also incorporates the latest LTPO3 technology and wide-angle OLEDs, enabling a faster 1Hz refresh rate for a truly always-on experience. This means watch faces with a ticking seconds hand are now possible, and the display is easier to read from any angle.
The Power of the S11 Chip
Under the hood, the Ultra 3 is powered by the new S11 SiP (System in Package), bringing a substantial boost in performance and efficiency. This new chip, alongside a more power-efficient 5G modem, delivers up to 42 hours of battery life with normal use—a massive improvement over the previous generation. In Low Power Mode, the battery life is extended to an incredible 72 hours, making it an ideal choice for multi-day expeditions.
Satellite Connectivity for the Off-Grid Explorer
The most groundbreaking new feature is the built-in satellite connectivity. Now, even when off the grid without cellular or Wi-Fi, the Ultra 3 can be used to send emergency SOS messages to contact services, providing a critical lifeline in remote locations. This feature, combined with the new 5G cellular capabilities, ensures users can stay connected and safe wherever their adventures take them.
Advanced Health and Fitness
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 builds on its impressive health and fitness suite with new capabilities. It now offers notifications for chronic high blood pressure, a new “sleep score” to help users better understand their sleep quality, and the ability to monitor for signs of sleep apnea. The upgraded dual-frequency GPS remains the most accurate in a sports watch, and new features like Workout Buddy and advanced running metrics further enhance its performance tracking.
Pricing and Availability
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is available in natural and black titanium and starts at $799. Pre-orders are open today, September 9, and the device will be available in stores and for delivery beginning Friday, September 19.
